Secondary Facade

A secondary façade is a second façade layer installed in front of or outside the existing or primary load-bearing façade system, typically composed of glass, aluminum, or metal panels. This system is used for both aesthetic and functional purposes and is an essential component of sustainable and energy-efficient designs in modern architecture.

Structural Features:

  • The secondary façade is generally constructed using materials such as glass, metal, aluminum composite panels (ACP), stone, or perforated metal.
  • It is mounted independently from the primary façade via carrier profiles.
  • In double-glazed or panel systems, a ventilated air cavity (plenum) is created between the façade and the main structure.
